Fixed Value-Based Pricing (Flat Fees!)

We’re a unique law practice for several reasons, but by far one of our favorites is how client-friendly we are (no stuffy lawyers in offices with no parking here).  One of the biggies for us in the client-friendly department is our Fixed Value-Based Pricing (Flat Fees!).

What does that mean? Lets start with what it does not mean….  It does not mean that there is a set price for a service, say Divorce Mediation, and thats what everyone pays.

Instead, we work closely and thoughtfully with each client to arrive at a customized for for the specific services they need.  What that means for you is that before you even begin to work with us you know how much you will pay, and what the maximum amount you will have to spend on the matter will be.  Our main goal with this system is to foster a relationship with our clients (you don’t have to be afraid the clock is running with every call) and client satisfaction.

The Old Way: charging by the hour

Firms that do things the old way have the lawyer keep track of all the time they spend on a case and what they did, then they send you a bill.  This is what that bill might look like

01/12/09 Got letter from opposing counsel.  Reviewed correspondence and copied client        .30

01/14/09 Telephone call with client regarding correspondence received on 01/12/09                 .50

01/15/09 Telephone call with opposing counsel regarding 01/12/09 issue and options                .70

Total Time: 1.50 x $250 per hour = $375.00

Under this system, some lawyers focus on time, procedure, and have no incentive to resolve conflict or be efficient or goal oriented.

What do you care about? You care about the service provided to you, and the result achieved – not about how much time was spent.  With value based pricing, you are working with a lawyer that cares about the same things you care about, and not about how much time it takes.
